Find us Hopsford Hall Fishery is located off junction two of the M6, off the B4065, near Shilton in Coventry. The fishery has been a popular venue since its opening in 1993-4. It consists of one pool that spans approximately three acres, which is well stocked with carp (Mirror, Common, Ghost, and Linear), as well as large Bream, and a variety of Roach and Perch.
In 2009, the fishery enlisted the expertise of Andrew Ellis, a renowned fishery consultant, to help manage the lake more effectively. Following an initial survey and health check, Andrew provided guidance on improvements, and the lake has been regularly netted since then. Based on Andrew's advice, the fishery started feeding the fish during times when they are most vulnerable, such as late autumn and early spring. Additionally, the fishery is closed for three months from December 1st to March 1st, as well as during the spawning period.
These measures have resulted in healthier and larger fish, providing a greater challenge for regular anglers.
In 2019, the fishery took steps to ensure the protection of the pool by installing an Otter-proof fence when it became aware of Otters being released in the Warwickshire area. Since then, Hopsford Hall Fishery has continued to thrive.
Andrew Ellis, Managing Director at AE Fishery Developments LTD and Director at The Carp Society, provided a statement about the fishery's management. He acknowledged Nicola, the owner of the fishery, for her dedication to improving the fish stocks. Andrew highlighted the fishery's excellent stock of big Carp, Roach, and Bream. He also emphasised the importance of day ticket anglers respecting the rules and the fishery, as their cooperation is crucial for its continued success.
