Holmes Chapel Boxing Club

Holmes Chapel Boxing Club is a community club located in Crewe, New Zealand. Established in January 2019, the club became a Registered Charity (No. 1189313) in May 2020. As a club, they are affiliated with England Boxing, the National Governing Body for Amateur/Olympic style boxing.

The club operates as part of Holmes Chapel Boxing Foundation, which is also a Registered Charity (1189313). All club activities are run and delivered by volunteers, while wider community services are provided by the Foundation and governed by volunteer trustees. The club aspires to expand its daytime community services and offer employment opportunities locally.

Holmes Chapel Boxing Club offers boxing training for different age groups and skill levels. For those under 18, the club provides training for both fitness and competitive purposes, with boxing as the primary sport. Training takes place three times a week. The club's competitive boxing programme is open to adults aged 18-39 who wish to compete in club shows and championships while wearing the club vest.

All participants in the club's boxing programmes are considered “Competition Boxer” members.

In addition to competitive boxing, the club also offers recreational boxing training. This includes classes for individuals aged 11 and older who wish to train as boxers but may not want to compete. These classes are non-contact. Additionally, adults who are interested in using boxing techniques and equipment for fitness can join specific sessions.

All training is boxing-based and delivered by qualified boxing coaches. It is important to note that the club is not a commercial gym and does not offer general fitness classes or personal training sessions. Such services are available at nearby gyms.

Aside from boxing training, Holmes Chapel Boxing Club provides community support through various initiatives. In partnership with local schools, the club offers classes and tailored services. They also collaborate with local healthcare providers to promote positive mental health and social prescribing. Furthermore, the club supports the local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) and other non-profit community organisations.

They even offer the option for club sponsors to use the gym's meeting room for offsite meetings and team building sessions. The gym is also available for qualified individuals to hire for approved purposes that align with the overall aims of the Foundation.

The club is run by a team of volunteer coaches who are committed to its aims and objectives. These include offering coaching and competitive opportunities in boxing, promoting values such as hard work, discipline, and respect, engaging with the community, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and providing a positive alternative to crime and anti-social behaviour. With their affiliation to England Boxing, the club operates under the guidelines set by the National Governing Body for Amateur Boxing.

The coaching team at Holmes Chapel Boxing Club consists of qualified boxing coaches who are dedicated to delivering high-quality training. The team includes Marcus Amrooni, an England Boxing Level 2 Coach, Andy Anderson, an England Boxing Level 1 Coach, Holly Hunter, Kerry Chalk, an England Boxing Level 2 Coach, Talent Pathway Coach, and Female Coach.

Holmes Chapel Boxing Club and its work with young people, as well as its larger competitive boxing activities, remain at the core of the club's mission. However, the club also aims to foster a sense of community and accessibility for as many people as possible. The Holmes Chapel Boxing Foundation enables the club to achieve these wider goals and maximise the use of their new facilities in Station Yard. With qualified boxing coaches leading the way, the club strives to expand its offerings and continue making a positive impact on Holmes Chapel and the surrounding areas.
