Hollowell Sailing Club

Welcome to Hollowell Sailing Club, located in the beautiful county of Northamptonshire. Established in 1966, our club is run entirely by volunteers and operates as a non-profit organisation. We are proud to be a fully affiliated and registered training centre with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA).

At Hollowell Sailing Club, we warmly welcome both beginners looking to learn sailing for the first time and experienced sailors who are eager to participate in our competitive racing programme. In addition to sailing, paddleboarding has become a popular choice for families, and we offer family membership options for this activity.

One of our main highlights is our competitive racing programme, which takes place from March to December each year. Whether you are a seasoned racer or new to the sport, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. We have Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Frostbite series, as well as personal handicap and Open Meetings events. Check out our comprehensive sailing programme on our website for more details.

If you are interested in learning to sail, we offer a range of courses taught by fully qualified RYA instructors who are also club members and enthusiastic sailing educators. Our courses cover all aspects of dinghy sailing and powerboating, ensuring that you can gain the skills and knowledge needed to become a confident sailor.

For the youth members, we have a vibrant and friendly youth section, providing high-quality coaching for beginners and improvers throughout the season. As a member of the Northamptonshire Junior Circuit, our club regularly sends representatives to major national youth events.

Membership at Hollowell Sailing Club is open to all, and we offer competitive membership fees as well as dinghy storage options. You can conveniently book your sailing course and apply for membership online using our secure service called 'Webcollect'. For those who join, it is a requirement to contribute to the running of the club by performing a compulsory duty obligation.

If you're curious about sailing but not quite ready to commit, we offer “Try Sailing” sessions during the summer, where you can join us for a Saturday morning or Tuesday evening sail with an experienced instructor.

Hollowell Reservoir, where our club is located, is nestled in a picturesque valley in the north of Northamptonshire. When approaching from the north, you will pass through the village of Guilsborough. From Northampton, you can turn off at Creaton and go through Hollowell village, turning right at the top of the hill.
