Are you the owner of Hokowhitu Bridge Club?

Welcome to the Hokowhitu Bridge Club! Located in Palmerston North, this friendly club invites players of all ages and skill levels to join their community. Sessions are held at the Palmerston North Bridge Club, 2 Cook Street, on Wednesdays at 7:15 pm (excluding the first week of each month) and Thursdays at 1:15 pm. Both sessions welcome players of all levels.
Recently, the club congratulated Steve Baron and Wayne Burrows for their first-place win in the Daffodil Day charity tournament. The club also offers a library with a range of bridge books for those keen to improve their skills.
Need a partner? Michele Kay is the Wednesday evening convenor, contactable at 021 146 3850 or michelekay@inspire.net.nz. Gayle Leader is the Thursday afternoon convenor and can be reached at 358 3572, 021 116 1073, or gayle.leader@icloud.com.
Visitors are always welcome at any session, with or without a partner. Arrive 5–10 minutes before the start time, or contact the convenor if you need a partner. Casual visitors can play for a month or longer.
New members are always welcome. Membership forms are available from the Chair or Secretary. Annual fees are $90, with discounts for members of other NZ Bridge clubs, those 90 and over, and under-26s.
Session fees are $7 per player, with concession cards available: $30 for five sessions or $60 for ten, payable online or at the game.
Interested in learning bridge? While the 2023 lessons have finished, join the list for the 2024 series by emailing hokowhitubridgeclub@gmail.com or contacting Julie at 021 127 4143. There might also be online lessons later in 2023.
Sessions follow NZ Bridge rules, overseen by a professional director. Players may use their preferred bidding system, as long as it is declared, with ACOL being the most common system taught. Session results are posted in both “open” and “handicapped” categories, with open winners earning “C-points”.
Casual pairs are welcome except during Swiss pairs or Teams events where complete tables are needed.
Conduct and etiquette during play are highly valued. Guidelines for players are available on the club’s website.
