Are you the owner of Hodnet Angling Club?

Several of our waters. These platforms were funded in part by a grant from the National Lottery, allowing us to provide inclusive fishing opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
In addition to our diverse range of fishing waters, Hodnet Angling Club also offers a variety of membership categories to accommodate different needs. We are proud to support the development of young anglers and offer free and discounted junior memberships. Full members also have the privilege of bringing a nominated child from their family to fish without any additional charge, subject to conditions.
For those who are new to angling or looking to improve their skills, we have a qualified angling coach as a member of our committee who organises coaching sessions for youngsters. These sessions are a great way for aspiring anglers to learn the sport and enhance their abilities in a supportive and friendly environment.
The club organises a regular programme of matches for members to participate in, and we are continuously seeking to expand the range of waters available and improve their facilities. Recently, we completed the construction of otter protection fences at our Goldstone Top (Common) Pool, ensuring the safety and preservation of the fish population. We also completed a fish refuge project at Ryley's Pool, which involved the installation of fishing platforms and refuges.
We are excited to announce that as of 2022, new and existing members can conveniently join or renew their membership online through the Clubmate system. This streamlined process makes it easier than ever to become a part of the Hodnet Angling Club community.
If you are in need of bait for your fishing endeavours, we can point you in the right direction. Many of our members have historically purchased maggots and other baits from local sources, and we can provide recommendations on where to find these supplies.
Hodnet Angling Club has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1972. Originally founded by anglers who were members of the Hodnet Working Men's Club, the club started with Falls Pit as its first water, generously loaned by Brigadier Heber Percy of Hodnet Hall. Over time, the club expanded its portfolio of waters to include Plewes and Ryley's Pools, the Goldstone stretch of the Shropshire Union Canal, a stretch of the River Tern, Preeswood Pool, and Goldstone and Hammersley's Pools. This growth has provided members with a wide selection of waters to choose from, catering to various angling preferences.
Throughout the years, Hodnet Angling Club has had members who have represented the club in local and national competitions. Our canal waters have been decided as venues for prestigious events such as the Embassy Pairs, Fishomania, Angling Times Winter League Semi Finals, and the CRT/Anglers Trust 'Nationals'. Hosting these competitions is a testament to the high quality and reputation of our waters.
The club's commitment to continuous improvement and inclusivity is evident in our recent installation of disabled angler platforms and access paths at several of our waters. We strive to provide equal fishing opportunities for individuals with disabilities, allowing them to enjoy the sport in a comfortable and accessible environment.
Hodnet Angling Club is truly North Shropshire's leading angling club, offering a range of fishing waters, membership options, and a supportive community. Whether you are a seasoned angler or just starting out, we invite you to join us and experience the joys of fishing in the beautiful surroundings of Hodnet and its surrounding areas.
