Himley Cricket Club Junior Section, a local cricket club in Himley, is excited to announce their upcoming Cricket event. With 19 years of experience, the club has grown from strength to strength, offering opportunities for young players to excel in the sport. They currently run teams for ages 9 to 17, including dedicated girl's teams at under 13.
The club believes in providing an inclusive environment for all, offering mixed cricket for players of all ages. They have an open-door policy, inviting anyone interested to join their weekly training sessions. These sessions take place every Friday evening from 6.30pm till 8.00pm until September. No booking is required; simply drop in on a Friday or contact Matt Wall on 07814 624599 for more information.
The junior section of Himley Cricket Club is actively looking for players of all ages, with a special focus on school years 4, 5, and 6. They have found that starting training at an early age greatly contributes to the players' skill and development. Even children as young as 6 years old are welcome to join and participate in the carefully structured training program.
As children reach the age of 13, they are encouraged to participate in senior open age cricket. Himley Cricket Club runs six teams on Saturdays, with an impressive 40 to 50 Under 16's playing each weekend. Their first senior team plays in The Birmingham District League, representing the highest level attainable without reaching county level. It is worth mentioning that many players in the senior team have started their cricket journey within the junior section.
The Junior section of Himley Cricket Club takes pride in achieving the esteemed Clubmark Status. This status guarantees that all their coaches are qualified, insured, trained in first aid, and DBS/CRB checked. With a team of 30 coaches, including two female coaches, the club ensures that all their juniors receive top-quality coaching at every session. Furthermore, once juniors reach the age of 16, they are encouraged to participate in coaching as well.
Himley Cricket Club is more than just a cricket club; it is an integral part of the community. They actively involve parents in running teams, encourage them to take coaching courses, and even become administrators. The club truly values and supports the potential of its members on and off the field. To learn more about the club and their values, please download or read their welcome pack and consent form.
