Hills Combat Ashby de-la-Zouch, led by Senseis Mike and Rob, is a respected karate club at Packington Memorial Hall, Ashby de-la-Zouch. Catering specifically to children aged 4-15, the club splits its sessions into two age groups for optimal teaching.
For the younger cohort (ages 4-7), sessions introduce karate and self-defence in an engaging manner, fostering respect, discipline, and conflict resolution. The older group (ages 8-15) builds on these basics, adding crucial anti-bullying skills and advanced techniques.
Students at Hills Combat learn a range of skills: kicking, punching, blocking, kata, sparring, and bag drills. These lessons progress through various grade levels, with details available on the club's website under the Karate Grading System.
Membership in the English Karate Organisation (EKO) ensures recognised grading and additional benefits. Sessions in Ashby de-la-Zouch are every Thursday: beginners from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm and advanced from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. There's also a Burntwood club for those nearer that area.
