Melissa, the organizer, wants to share some exciting news with the sports community. The Hidden Valley Community Association (HVCA) is on a mission to foster a sense of belonging and connection in Hidden Valley. As a non-profit, HVCA relies on community support and participation to provide recreational and social opportunities for residents of all ages.
One of the highlights is the Hidden Hut Outdoor Rink. Located at #10504 Hidden Valley Drive NW in Calgary, the rink has become a favourite spot for ice skating enthusiasts. It boasts two ice surfaces: a main rink with boards and nets for skating and hockey, and a pleasure rink for casual skaters and young children.
Both rink surfaces are maintained by dedicated volunteers who work hard to keep the ice in great shape throughout winter. The rink is open from mid-December to late February, weather permitting, with on-site parking available. Weekly maintenance includes ice building, patch filling, and regular flooding.
Please note that the rink and court surfaces are not currently available for private events, but the Board of Directors is exploring future options. In the meantime, donations for board replacement can be made through the Parks Foundation Calgary website.
Although the Hidden Hut building near the main rink is not available for booking at this time, Melissa and the HVCA board are committed to enhancing community involvement, communication, and event planning. They aim to create a vibrant and engaging neighbourhood for all ages. Residents are encouraged to stay updated and find volunteer opportunities through the HVCA website and social media channels.
Melissa looks forward to seeing everyone on the ice at the Hidden Hut Outdoor Rink!
