Bowling Club is a well-established and friendly flat green bowling club located in Redditch, New Zealand. With approximately 100 members, the club offers a vibrant and inclusive community for bowlers of all ages and skill levels.
Affiliated with both the Worcestershire Bowling Association and Bowls England, Hewell Bowling Club is proud to provide excellent facilities for its members. The club features a clubhouse and bar, a recently built pavilion that includes modern changing facilities, and, most importantly, a meticulously maintained bowling green that the club takes great pride in.
Currently, the club's membership is at capacity, but when it re-opens, Hewell Bowling Club will enthusiastically welcome new members. Whether you have some previous experience in bowling or are a complete beginner looking for a sociable and competitive sport to engage in, this club's doors are open to you. In fact, the club boasts several qualified coaches who are ready to assist newcomers in learning the fundamentals of the game.
For those who are keen on competitive bowling, Hewell Bowling Club has two mixed teams that participate in triples leagues on Monday evenings, three mixed teams on Tuesday evenings, and both a men's and ladies' team that competes in their respective Concorde Leagues, usually on Saturday afternoons. The club also organises more than a dozen club competitions throughout the season, with the highlight being the finals weekend at the end of the season.
However, the club isn't solely focused on competitive bowling. Regular friendly fixtures against other clubs are held on Thursday and Sunday afternoons, providing a great opportunity for enjoyable and casual play. Additionally, Hewell Bowling Club hosts an organised club “roll-up” for all members on both Wednesday afternoons and Friday evenings. Even during the close season, the club offers short mat bowling on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Hewell Bowling Club prides itself on its friendly atmosphere, and as such, it organises a variety of social events throughout the season. Members can enjoy a fun-filled bingo night, an entertaining evening with both indoor and outdoor games, a quiz night, and a festive Christmas dinner.
