Join a tour around the iconic Henson Park with local historian Chrys Meader and hear about her personal connection to this remarkable place.
Henson Park was once the site of a dangerous open waterhole – a legacy of the brickworks industry that had so dominated the Marrickville economy and landscape in the late 1800s.
Marrickville Council bought the land in 1924. Henson Park went on to become the "spiritual" home of the Newtown Rugby League Club. It was also where an epic cycling race took place during the last Empire Games in 1938.
This is a rare opportunity to hear Henson Park’s fascinating story from a respected and passionate local historian.
Meet at the Henson Park front gates form Centennial Street.
