Henshin Aikido, located in Dublin 7, offers a unique opportunity to experience the art of Aikido in a warm and welcoming environment. Founded in March 2000, the Dojo is led by Ray Butcher, a 5th Dan Aikikai black belt, and offers classes for both men and women, as well as junior classes for ages 7 to 15.
Aikido, known as “the way of harmony with the spirit” or the art of peace, was founded by Morihei Ueshiba as a means of handling aggression and promoting peace through techniques of harmony. At Henshin Aikido, students have the opportunity to learn practical self-defence techniques while promoting physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being.
Classes at Henshin Aikido are taught by highly qualified and experienced black belts in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The curriculum includes warm-up and stretching exercises, Ukemi (break falls & rolling) practise, and movement drills to condition the body. Students also have the opportunity to study Bokken (wooden sword), Jo (short staff), and defence against attacks from Tanto (knife).
The goal of Henshin Aikido is to enhance self-confidence, improve balance, movement, and co-ordination, and help students live in harmony with themselves and those around them. The Dojo is part of the Evolutionary Aikido Community, under the guidance of Patrick Cassidy Sensei, 7th Dan Aikikai of Aikido Montreux, Switzerland.
Whether you are a beginner looking to learn at your own pace or an experienced practitioner seeking to deepen your understanding of Aikido, Henshin Aikido offers a supportive and inclusive environment for all. Join us and experience the benefits of Aikido on your doorstep in Dublin 7.
