Heidelberg Stars Soccer Club was established in 2002 after a community consultation between Somali families and community leaders. The community sought after an activity which would promote health and improve the self-confidence of the Somali youth while encouraging them to participate in a main stream activity. They decided to start a soccer club. The founding members are, Ali Hussein, Mohamed Ahmed (2015 Vice President), Ahmed Hersi, Abdullahi Abdulrahman, Hussein Algadi and Mohamud Aseir (2013 President).
The clubs main focus was to create an avenue for the youth to develop their skills, also improve their life skills and learn how to manage the club. This creates a sense of ownership and empowerment to the community while highlighting the sustainability of the club.
Currently the club has elected a new executive committee members and a new president. The club has 9 teams, 3 seniors and 6 junior teams. The club has 200 registered players which continues to grow and also has players from different backgrounds and is welcoming people from all walks of life.
