Hawthorne School of Dance, located in Bracknell, is a vibrant and welcoming dance school for dancers of all ages. With a strong focus on providing inspirational and fun dance classes, this school is loved by local dancers and their families alike.
The school is a natural progression from Windsor's popular pre-school dance classes, Blossom Ballet. At Hawthorne School of Dance, dancers can start from the age of 4 and participate in classes in ISTD Ballet, Tap, Modern, Ballet Conditioning, and Contemporary.
The ISTD Ballet classes, ranging from Pre-Primary to Advanced level, aim to develop confidence, musicality, and discipline in dancers. The Modern dance classes explore a fun and energetic rhythmic dance style, incorporating leaps, turns, kicks, and travelling steps. Tap dance, an art form seen on stages of many musicals, is also taught at the school. Dancers learn to create distinctive sounds and interesting rhythms by rhythmically beating the floor.
The school's principal, Lucy Hawthorne, is a highly experienced and enthusiastic dance practitioner. With a BA Hons in Dance and Drama Education from ISTD, Lucy's teaching credits include delivering workshops at The English National Ballet, teaching Street Dance on behalf of London Youth Dance, and being appointed as an Associate Dance Artist for Sadlers Wells. Her passion for dance is evident in her teaching style, and she strives to create a supportive and encouraging environment for all dancers.
Emily Headland, an accomplished dancer herself, teaches Modern, Tap, and junior Ballet at HSOD. She also runs her own dance school in Amersham. Emily brings her performance skills and experience from many local productions to inspire and guide aspiring dancers at Hawthorne School of Dance.
Alice Spencer, inspired by her Grandmother who danced with the Royal Ballet, teaches junior and senior Ballet at HSOD. She also teaches cheerleading and contemporary dance at local schools. Alice's training at the prestigious Italia Conti and her successes in dance competitions, including the UDO World Street Dance Competition and representing Great Britain in the Cheerleading World Championships in Florida, bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her teaching.
In addition to weekly term time classes, Hawthorne School of Dance also offers regular opportunities for dancers to take part in local performances and ISTD exams. This allows dancers to showcase their skills and progress as they continue to grow in their dance journey.
Whether you are looking to nurture a passion for dance, improve technique, or simply have fun and make new friends, Hawthorne School of Dance provides a warm and inclusive environment for dancers in Bracknell and the surrounding areas.
