Harrogate School of Swimming

Louise Aikman would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone in the sports community. Harrogate School of Swimming, located right here in Harrogate, offers both group and private swimming lessons for children aged 3 and above, as well as adults.

For the youngsters, it's a fantastic opportunity to get to grips with basic water skills in a safe and enjoyable setting. The school follows the Swim England Amateur Learn to Swim Framework, using innovative techniques with toys and games. This helps build water confidence, develop stroke techniques, and improve stamina and advanced strokes. Children are continuously assessed, with formal evaluations each term and badges awarded for their progress.

Group sizes are kept to a maximum of four children to ensure each child gets the attention they need. Teachers are in the water with the children during the early stages for extra support. The lessons run weekly during term time and last for 30 minutes. There are also intensive courses available during the Easter and Summer holidays.

Private lessons for all ages and abilities are also available upon request, catering to both beginners and advanced competitive swimmers.

Louise takes great pride in her team of enthusiastic and fully qualified Swim England instructors. The school follows a strict criteria for gaining ASA Duckling Awards and Swim England Learn to Swim Awards. These awards are designed to make learning to swim enjoyable and rewarding for children of all ages.
