About
Located in the heart of Nanaimo, Harewood Lacrosse Rink within Harewood Centennial Park is a popular destination for sports enthusiasts of all ages. The park offers a range of amenities, including an inclusive playground area with accessible swings, an “Orbit”/Merry Go Round, and a rubberized surface area for added safety.
In addition to the playground, visitors can enjoy hard surface courts (covered and uncovered), a mountain bike park, a water park, and a youth park for skateboarding. The park is also home to the Sherry Sports Fields, making it a hub for outdoor recreational activities in the community.
A major park update project was completed in 2015, adding new playground equipment, a beginner Mountain Bike area, and utility upgrades. In 2017, the lacrosse box and covered space were built, replacing a tennis court and renewing an existing lacrosse box. The Youth Park (skateboard park) was officially opened to the public in 2020, featuring a Street Style Plaza with various facilities and a kidney-shaped bowl designed for skaters of all levels.
The entire Youth Park features integrated public art created by First Nation artists, Bracken Hanuse Corlett, and Joel Good, paying homage to the area's history and culture. Accessibility is a priority at Harewood Lacrosse Rink, with wheelchair-accessible facilities available for all visitors.
Whether you're looking to play a game of lacrosse, enjoy a skateboarding session, or simply relax in the park with your family, Harewood Centennial Park has something for everyone. Come and experience the vibrant sports community at Harewood Lacrosse Rink in Nanaimo.
