At Hamstall Fishery, anglers can enjoy a specimen carp lake, two doubles pools, and two silver fish pools. There's also a stretch of the River Blithe for those interested in trout and coarse fish. Unlike many other places, Hamstall doesn’t hold matches, maintaining a relaxed and peaceful environment.
A key feature is the Anglers' Lodge, complete with toilets and acting as the central hub. The fishery is family-friendly, offering a lakeside lodge for angling breaks and surrounded by the beautiful Staffordshire countryside.
Hamstall Fishery has gained a reputation for impressive carp catches, with recent specimens weighing in at 31lb and several between 20lbs and 25lbs. Double-figure carp are regularly stocked into certain pools, further boosting its status as a top specimen carp venue.
Open year-round, the well-matured setting boasts natural waterside trees, bushes, and vegetation. There’s a central car park for easy access and a purpose-built Fishermans' Lodge offering snacks, drinks, and clean, well-maintained toilets, ensuring a welcoming environment for all, including female anglers.
With good access to all pools, Hamstall Fishery caters to both experienced anglers and novices. Pool Three, the specimen carp lake, holds fish over 30lbs and offers excellent tench, perch, roach, and bream fishing. Nearby, the river provides opportunities for brown trout, chub, dace, pike, and grayling, appealing to both coarse and fly-fishing enthusiasts.
Visitors should be mindful of the fishery's rules: no barbed hooks, braid, bolt rigs, and the only bait ban is on nuts. Landing nets should be used to ensure safe fish handling.
