Welcome to Hampton Hammers Netball Club, a sports club located in Melbourne, Australia. The club has a rich history, with its beginning in 1984 when two teams of schoolgirls from Hampton Primary School joined the SANDY competition. Since then, the club has grown and now boasts 20 teams ranging from U/11 to Open.
At Hampton Hammers, the club values the importance of team sports in teaching lifelong skills. Players learn the significance of fitness, fairness, and good sporting values. They are taught the importance of not letting their teammates down, and they develop resilience and perseverance. The club believes that to achieve anything in life, effort must be put in.
Regardless of the skill level of your child, Hampton Hammers aims to foster and develop these skills in a friendly, caring, and supportive environment. Additionally, players have the opportunity to further develop skills in umpiring and coaching.
The Club is managed by a dedicated committee consisting of volunteer parents and friends. Match play takes place on Saturdays at the Thomas St, Hampton netball courts. The games are scheduled between 8:15 am and 6 pm, depending on the age group. The season starts in late February and runs until the end of Term 3.
However, there are also Round Robin grading matches for the Under 11s in mid-February. There are no games played on long weekends or during State School holidays. Finals are held in the Under 13, Under 15, Under 17, and Open Age groups before the end of State School Term 3. It is important for players in these age groups to avoid booking any holidays during the 3-week finals series to avoid disadvantaging the team.
The dates for the upcoming season can be found on the club's website.
Training sessions take place on Friday afternoons at the Thomas St Hampton netball courts. Under 11 and Under 13 teams usually train between 4:15 pm and 5:15 pm, depending on the coach's availability. Under 15 and Under 17 teams generally train between 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm. Open age group teams do not typically train.
Club information, including news, team information, team managers, committee details, training schedules, uniforms, grading guidelines, extreme weather cancellations, player/parent commitment expectations, and archived material, can be found on the club's website.
