At Hampstead Karate School, we believe that martial arts can teach children valuable life skills that may not necessarily be taught in traditional school settings. Our classes focus on instilling manners, respect, self-discipline, keeping one's word, and conflict resolution techniques. While we do teach self-defence techniques, we emphasise the importance of avoiding violence whenever possible and encourage students to walk away or run from dangerous situations.
As a branch of the esteemed White Crane Karate School, which has been serving the North London community for over 40 years, Hampstead Karate School maintains the highest standards of instruction. Our Chief Instructor, Sensei Steve Duffy, holds a 7th Dan WSK black belt and is dedicated to imparting his passion and knowledge to our students. We specialise in Japanese Goju-Ryu Karate, one of the most popular and revered styles worldwide. This style fosters a healthy mind and body through rigorous training and self-defence techniques, enabling students to develop confidence and discipline that can positively impact their lives.
Our classes cater to different age groups, with children's classes available for ages 5-11. Additionally, we offer private lessons for teens and adults in the comfort of their own homes. Rest assured, all our instructors hold an Enhanced DBS certification and are trained in first aid, ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all our students.
Hampstead Karate School is affiliated with the World Shoseikan Karate-Do, the Japan Karatedo Federation Gojukai, and the Federation of English Karate Organisations, guaranteeing that our teaching methodologies align with high international standards.
