Maggie, the organiser, wanted to share some exciting news about the training sessions at the City of Glasgow Gymnastics Club. The elite gymnasts are training intensely, up to six days a week, with each session lasting up to four hours. These rigorous sessions aim to prepare gymnasts to compete on both national and international stages.
Maggie also highlighted that the club isn’t just for elite athletes. It warmly welcomes recreational gymnasts of all ages and abilities. These sessions focus on building strength, flexibility, and coordination across various disciplines like floor routines, balance beam, vault, bars, and trampoline. Maggie emphasises that the club offers a safe and supportive environment where gymnasts can enjoy learning and developing their skills.
The club’s facility, located at Bellahouston Leisure Centre, boasts top-notch equipment and apparatus. There’s a full-size gymnastics floor, asymmetric bars, high bar, parallel bars, beams, rings, vault, pommel, and trampoline. The facility also features a high-spec fast track to assist gymnasts in learning difficult skills safely. The pitted area ensures gymnasts can practise new skills with confidence and security, something Maggie is particularly proud of.
Competitive opportunities are also available through the club’s Acrobatic Gymnastics programme. Maggie extends an invitation to passionate coaches who are eager to help gymnasts improve and meet their performance goals. She reassures that support and training will be provided to help develop coaching skills in acrobatics, if needed.
Whether the goal is international competition or simply a fun, challenging way to stay active, Maggie believes the City of Glasgow Gymnastics Club offers the perfect platform. The club’s guiding philosophy – ASPIRE, BELIEVE, WORK HARD, ACHIEVE – is reflected in the training and development of its members. Maggie ensures that the dedicated coaching team is always there to provide the necessary attention and support to each gymnast.
For more information, Maggie invites everyone to visit the club’s website or get in touch via email or phone. She encourages anyone with an interest in gymnastics to join their community and experience the joy and fulfilment the sport can bring.
