The Guildford Hockey Club, based in Godalming, is proud to introduce the Guildford Talent Academy, a local talent development program specifically designed for young hockey players aged 14-18 in Southwest Surrey and Hampshire. Geared towards high-potential individuals, this program offers an incredible opportunity for selected players to take their game to the next level.
Running from September until the end of July, the Talent Academy caters to both boys and girls, with each squad accommodating a range of 25-35 talented individuals. This ensures that participants not only benefit from personalised attention but also form connections and friendships with like-minded players in their age group.
At the Guildford Talent Academy, players can expect an extensive training program consisting of over 100 hours of top-notch coaching. With a strong focus on on-pitch practice, participants will have the chance to refine their skills, learn new techniques, and improve their overall performance.
In addition to honing their on-pitch abilities, players can also expect a comprehensive approach to their development. The Talent Academy provides nutrition guidance, ensuring that participants are fuelling their bodies properly to optimise their performance. Conditioning workouts are also a key component, enabling players to build their strength, agility, and stamina.
Understanding the importance of mental resilience and focus in sports, the Talent Academy also offers sports psychology sessions. These sessions aim to enhance participants' mental game, helping them develop strategies to handle pressure, stay motivated, and perform at their best.
But it's not all about training! The Talent Academy also provides regular fixtures against other local Talent Academies, giving players valuable match experience and the chance to put their skills to the test in a competitive setting. These fixtures not only serve as a measuring stick for progress but are also opportunities for players to showcase their talents and potentially catch the eye of talent scouts.
To be considered for a trial with the Guildford Talent Academy, players must first be nominated by their club, school, or County coach. The England Hockey website provides detailed guidance on the Talent Academy Nomination Process and Guidance page, ensuring all players have a fair chance to showcase their potential.
So, if you're a dedicated hockey player aged 14-18 looking to take your skills to new heights, the Guildford Talent Academy is an opportunity that shouldn't be missed. Join a community of talented individuals, receive top-quality coaching, and unlock your true hockey potential!
