Greenroyd Bowling Club

Greenroyd Bowling Club, located in Skircoat Green, Halifax, is a renowned bowling and lawn bowls club that has been in operation since 1909. With 14 active teams, it is considered one of the leading clubs in Halifax. In addition to bowling, the club offers a snooker facility and a well-stocked bar in its clubhouse for members and guests to enjoy.

The bowling green at Greenroyd Bowling Club is professionally maintained to a very high standard and is widely regarded as one of the best in Calderdale. Its exceptional amenities have led to its frequent selection as a venue for Yorkshire Cup ties. The club has 15 teams that participate in local league competitions during the spring and summer months. Veterans, aged over 60, play in the afternoons, while other teams play in the evenings.

The teams consist of male-only, female-only, and mixed teams, catering to different levels of ability. While selection for most teams is based on performance, the club also emphasises participation and enjoyment. Social bowling events are held throughout the season, along with individual and pairs events and ongoing knockout competitions during the summer.

In addition to bowling, Greenroyd Bowling Club boasts two full-size and well-maintained snooker tables in a comfortable environment. The tables are heavily used three evenings a week and frequently during the day for social snooker sessions. The club operates a handicap system and organises various internal snooker competitions that are open to all members. These competitions include league and knockout events for both singles and pairs, which take place during the winter months.

Greenroyd Bowling Club also has two teams participating in the Calder Valley Snooker League with varying degrees of success.
