Great Pacific Diving

Located in the beautiful city of North Vancouver, Great Pacific Diving is home to a dedicated SCUBA instructor named James Hollis. With a passion for the underwater world that dates back to his teenage years, James has been exploring the depths since 1973. His journey led him to complete a BSc in Marine Biology at the prestigious University of British Columbia.

In 1981, James decided to share his love for diving by establishing the UBC Aqua Society Shop. This was followed by the creation of Marine Drive's Capilano Divers Supply, which later became known as Great Pacific Diving in North Vancouver in 1985. His dedication to the sport led him to open another flagship store in Surrey in 1987.

James's commitment to excellence is evident in his career outside of diving as well. In 1992, he joined the Canadian Forces as a Reserve Officer, where he served in various roles, including administrative and flying positions. After a long and fulfilling career, James retired from the CAF in 2021 as a full-time member.

In addition to his diving endeavours, James founded a subsidiary engraving and awards service in 2007, which now operates under the name Great Pacific Sports & Awards. His dedication to the diving community and his passion for the sport have earned him a reputation as a knowledgeable and experienced instructor.
