Grappling Bros Rockdale

Grappling Bros Rockdale is a martial arts club located in Rockdale, New South Wales, Australia. Established in April 2018, it was founded by Diego Barreto and Paulo de Carvalho Morand, who are both highly experienced black belts in Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, respectively.

Diego Barreto is a fourth-degree black belt in Judo and a 2-stripe black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He is also a worldwide champion in Judo. Paulo Morand is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with 20 years of experience on the mats. Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the club.

In July 2018, Grappling Bros welcomed Pedro Antun Neto, a black belt in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo. Pedro is a national and international competitor in both sports and has many years of teaching experience.

Grappling Bros aims to provide a unique perspective on teaching martial arts by offering three complementary grappling martial arts – Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and No-Gi - all under one roof. This makes it Wollongong's only Full Grappling Gym. This approach allows students to learn and excel in multiple disciplines, enhancing their overall skills and abilities.

Traditionally, martial arts training begins on the knees, but at Grappling Bros, the focus is on standing combat from the start. This approach applies to self-defence as well, as real combat situations often begin while standing. Grappling Bros believes in providing a comprehensive training experience that prepares individuals for any situation.

The club offers a range of programmes for all ages and skill levels. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu programme caters to students aged 4 and up, from beginners to advanced practitioners. The Judo programme is designed for students of all ages, from 4-year-old kids to adults, and from beginners to advanced levels. The No-Gi programme combines street defence skills, BJJ, and Freestyle wrestling.
