Grange Uniting Netball Club – Church Courts, formerly known as the 'Grange Methodist Women's Basketball Club,' has a rich history dating back to 1954. Over the years, the club has undergone several name changes and uniform updates to adapt to the evolving landscape of netball in Australia.
The club started with just one team, with Miss Margaret McCullouch serving as the Secretary. By 1970, the name changed to the 'Grange Methodist Netball Club' to align with the nationwide adoption of the term “netball. ” Under the leadership of Secretary Lorna Godfrey, the club expanded to include eight teams. The uniform at the time consisted of a black tunic with a white shirt, complemented by long white socks and black Volleys.
In 1978, the club rebranded as the Grange Uniting Netball Club. With a growing passion for the sport, the club merged with other Church teams in 1987, becoming the Henley Uniting Parish Netball Club. This merger brought about the introduction of a new uniform, featuring a grey pleated skirt and pink polo shirts. Additionally, the club welcomed its first male team during this period.
In the year 2000, the club decided to revert to its original name, Grange Uniting Netball Club, while adopting the A-line grey and maroon dress as its new uniform. In 2014, the club celebrated its 60th anniversary and introduced the “A line” pink/burgundy/silver dress for all age groups to wear.
Through the dedication and hard work of its members, the Grange Uniting Netball Club was able to resurface its courts at Beech Street in 2017. This achievement was made possible by the support of valuable partners and reflects the club's commitment to providing a high-quality playing environment for its members.
The club actively seeks sponsors to support its operations and programmes. It encourages businesses and individuals to become sponsors and contribute to the growth and development of netball in the Grange community.
Grange Uniting Netball Club is proud to call the corner of Charles Sturt Ave and Beach Street its home. It is a place where players of all ages and skill levels come together to enjoy the sport and foster a sense of camaraderie.
In alignment with its commitment to the safety and wellbeing of all participants, the club has implemented a Child Safe mission statement. It prioritises the rights and welfare of children and young people and maintains a secure environment for all players. The club also values and supports its volunteers, recognising their vital role in creating a safe and inclusive space for everyone.
The club has various documents and policies in place to ensure fair and transparent processes. These include team selection guidelines, Covid Safe plans, codes of conduct, and incident report forms. Additionally, the club holds an Annual General Meeting to involve its members in decision-making processes and welcomes feedback through a designated form.
By joining Grange Uniting Netball Club – Church Courts, members not only gain access to quality training and game day experiences but also become part of a vibrant community that embraces the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
