Hey sports community,
Cesar Lima here, and he wanted to share a bit about Grand Union Jiu Jitsu at Gymbox. It’s located right in the heart of London and has become a bit of a staple for those into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ).
For those who might not know, Grand Union symbolises both its size and its goal: bringing folks together through the practice of BJJ. Cesar, a black belt under Roger Gracie, leads a passionate bunch of skilled instructors. Since its start in 2007, the school has evolved from being Roger Gracie’s first affiliated academy in central London to carving out its own niche in the BJJ world.
Grand Union boasts some seriously talented students who’ve made their mark both nationally and internationally. Big names you might recognise include Max Lima, Ross Nicholls, Rogerio Lima, Steven Fage, and Igor Terreco. The school doesn’t just focus on teaching; competing is a big part of what they do, and they’ve got the accolades to show for it.
Back in 2019, the school decided to part ways with the Roger Gracie Academy (RGA) to develop its own unique identity. Roger Gracie himself supported this move, which speaks volumes about the mutual respect and heritage they share within the BJJ community.
Classes at Grand Union are varied, offering both gi and no-gi training. The instructors are top-notch and cater to everyone, from beginners to seasoned pros. Partnering with Gymbox means members have access to a brilliant facility right in central London, spread over 42,000 square feet of training space.
In a nutshell, if you're looking to dive into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or take your training to the next level, Grand Union Jiu Jitsu at Gymbox is the place to be.
Catch you on the mats!
Best,
Cesar Lima
