The Grand Forks & District Aquatic Centre, established on June 20th, 1987, is a year-round facility located in Grand Forks. The centre features four 25-meter lanes, a large shallow water leisure area, a sauna, whirlpool, and a well-equipped fitness and wellness centre. It is a hub for a variety of aquatic programs, exercise classes, swim lessons for all ages, advanced aquatic training, and special events.
In addition to the public swimming schedule, the Aquatic Centre offers programs such as Swim for Life swim lessons for children aged 4 months and over, Adult Learn to Swim classes, and a range of aquatic leadership courses scheduled annually. The fitness programs at the centre include Aquafit programs for all fitness levels, as well as dryland fitness programs like Circuit Weight Training classes. The fitness room is open for public use during all public swim hours, except programmed classes.
The Aquatic Centre also provides opportunities for individuals to become instructors for Grand Forks and District Recreation. Those with special talents and expertise are encouraged to share their skills by facilitating safe and fun recreation programs for kids, youth, and adults. Application packages for submitting proposals can be obtained from the Recreation office.
For those interested in using the facilities, the Aquatic Centre offers admission fees for single visits, session passes, monthly passes, and family passes. Additionally, shower facilities are available at a separate cost.
