Grand Ceilidh Club

Trevor would like to extend a warm invite to all members of our sports community to join the Grand Ceilidh Club in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. This friendly dance club, specialising in barn dances, welcomes everyone aged 11 and above, whether you're coming solo or with a partner. With live music from a different band each week, there's always something new to experience.

If you’re new to barn dances, don't worry. Each dance is guided by a professional caller who will lead you through the steps. There's no special attire required—just avoid high heels. The club meets every Wednesday at 8:15pm at the Royal Naval Association in East Street, Southend.

Trevor highlights that the Grand Ceilidh Club is not just about dancing; it’s also a social space where you can make new friends and stay fit. The health benefits of dancing are well-documented, including reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases and obesity, among others.

Admission to the club is £6 for visitors and £5 for members, starting from August 30th. Membership fees remain the same, with an annual subscription of £10 and a half-year subscription (from September to December) of £5. Students enjoy a half-price discount.

The club is located at the Royal Naval Association on East Street, Southend. The main function room features a large dance floor and a small stage. There’s also a bar and a small car park with additional street parking nearby.

Doors open at 8:00pm, with dancing commencing around 8:15pm, and the club shuts by approximately 10:30pm. While children aged 11 and above are welcome in the club room, they are not permitted in the bar area.
