Grafham Water Sailing Club

Grafham Water Sailing Club in Cambridgeshire invites all sport players to join in for a top-notch inland sailing experience. Just a few miles from the A1 and A14, it’s easy to get to.

Run by the friendly folks at Grafham, you can try sailing, windsurfing, day keelboats, and small cruisers. Recognised as an RYA Training Centre, Grafham offers courses in sailing, windsurfing, powerboating, and now wingsurfing and foiling.

Beginners can have a go with taster sessions or full RYA courses in sailing, windsurfing, and powerboating. Besides sailing, there’s plenty to do with quizzes, social activities, and seminars.

Racing enthusiasts can join in on Wednesdays and Sundays. For more relaxed sailing, come on Tuesdays, Fridays, or Saturdays. There’s also coaching on Saturdays for both adults and youth. Grafham often hosts big championships too, with some members reaching international levels like the Olympics.

Members enjoy well-maintained facilities and large grounds, thanks to dedicated working parties. New faces are always welcome—either visit or get in touch for any queries.

On the water, activities are varied. There’s fleet and handicap racing on Sundays and Wednesdays, and sociable sessions on Tuesday mornings, Friday evenings, and Saturday afternoons. Windsurfing, wingfoiling, and paddleboarding are also favourites. The water’s open daily, except Christmas and New Year's Day, with restrictions flagged up as needed.

If racing’s your thing, there’s Sunday racing year-round and Wednesday racing from April to August. Post-racing, unwind with a meal and drinks from the top-deck bar.

All boat classes are welcome, including popular one-design classes, single and double handers, asymmetric monohulls, and catamarans. The windsurfing community at Grafham is thriving, with two launching areas.
