"Welcome to Gorey Chess Club, a group of friendly chess enthusiasts based in North Wexford. We are always open to welcoming new members, so if you're looking for a game of chess on a Monday night, feel free to join us at the Loch gCarman Arms from 8pm onwards. Our club caters to players of all levels, from beginners to international level, so you'll always find a suitable opponent. If you're new to the game, we offer free advice and coaching to help you get started.
You can find us playing in the lounge on the left side as you enter the main door of the Loch gCarman Arms Hotel. Our Club President, Seamus Halpenny, is always available to answer any questions you may have about the club. Additionally, several of our members are involved in Wexford Chess, an organisation that offers junior chess coaching and tournaments in schools throughout Wexford.
Gorey Chess Club also has a collection of over 60 chess books donated by club member Brendan Lillis, which are available for borrowing by club members. If you're interested in borrowing any of these books, simply ask Seamus Halpenny on a Monday night. The club also has a link to online training resources for all members.
