Golden Knights Martial Arts – Kin Bushi Ryu is proud to honour martial art traditions that have been passed down for centuries while also incorporating new and innovative teaching methods. Our programmes go beyond punching, blocking, and kicking, and our instructors are constantly seeking ways to challenge, enthuse, and excite our students.
We offer flexible training schedules that can accommodate busy adult lifestyles, and our clubs are conveniently located in Magill, South Australia. Golden Knights Martial Arts – Kin Bushi Ryu has a rich history and is led by our esteemed Founding Master, Kancho Gary MacRae. Kancho Gary is an 8th Dan Black Belt with extensive experience in various forms of martial arts. His passion for martial arts began during his time-serving in the army as an infantry soldier. After leaving the army, Gary opened his first Karate school in 1981 and has since taught disciplines such as Kickboxing, Jiu-jitsu, Judo, Aikido, Kendo, Iaido, and other Budo skills.
Despite facing a serious accident in 1985 that left him with a broken neck and severely broken arm, Kancho Gary fought his way back to full fitness and achieved his 5th Dan grading. Throughout his recovery, he remained committed to his vision of developing a contemporary, self-defence-oriented Karate system with a strong foundation in martial arts philosophy and personal development.
Kancho Gary MacRae is nationally recognised for his qualifications in community services management, counselling and group work, volunteer management, youth work, coordination of volunteers, training and assessment, and community recreation. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to the martial arts community and his service in the military, emergency services, and volunteering.
At Golden Knights Martial Arts – Kin Bushi Ryu, we are proud to have Kancho Gary MacRae as our leader and instructor, and his expertise and dedication are evident in the quality of our training programmes.
