Menu Golden Bay’s very own Vaulting Team, the 'Hack Vaulties' club, offers awe-inspiring theatrical performances on horseback to the Golden Bay community. Founded in 2015 by Baerbel Hack, the club aims to make horse riding accessible to riders from all walks of life. The Hack Vaulties prioritise personal development in a team environment and empower young riders aged 5 to 17 by helping them develop confidence, balance, coordination, and teamwork.
Vaulting, an equestrian discipline combining dance and gymnastics on a moving horse, is the focus of the Hack Vaulties' activities. They prepare for performances of breathtaking feats of gymnastic prowess, beautifully set to music. The club has been invited to perform and host a series of vaulting workshops at Equifest, New Zealand’s largest equine event.
The Hack Vaulties have been actively involved in the local community and have performed at large local shows. They have also participated in shows in Takaka, Richmond, and Motueka. The club recently displayed their skills at the A&P show in Nelson and received great acclaim.
The club's dedication to safety has made vaulting one of the safest equestrian disciplines. It promotes a harmonious relationship between the vaulter and the horse, and fosters excellent teamwork among its members. Vaulting dates back to Greek and Roman times when soldiers practised vaulting movements as part of military training to showcase their prowess.
The Hack Vaulties express their gratitude to their sponsors for their support in offering the life-changing benefits of the vaulting club to the young riders of Golden Bay Community. Through their performances, they aim to showcase what a little team from a tiny town can achieve on the national stage.
To support the empowerment of youth in the Golden Bay community, individuals, and businesses can become sponsors. Further details can be obtained by contacting the club via email or phone.
