The chief instructor of Goju-Ryu Karate Moreton Bay is Sensei Matt Longmuir, who brings with him a wealth of experience in martial arts. With a passion that began 27 years ago, Sensei Matt has dedicated himself to providing training opportunities that allow participants to grow physically, psychologically, and spiritually. He has developed a comprehensive approach that incorporates both internal martial arts, such as breathing techniques and isometric tension exercises, as well as external martial arts, including body strengthening and conditioning.
Sensei Matt earned his 1st-degree black belt (Sho-dan) in 2002 under the guidance of Hanshi Frank T. Perry from the United Kingdom Seiki-Juku Karate. In 2006, he emigrated to Brisbane, Australia, and continued his training in Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Shuseikan under the guidance of Hanshi Seiichi Fujiwara from Goju-Ryu Karate-do Seiwakai. Sensei Matt's commitment to his craft is further demonstrated by his regular travels to Japan to continue his training.
In 2019, he achieved the rank of 4th-degree black belt (Yon-dan) in Gj-Ry Karate-do Shuseikan and is also a 3rd-degree black belt (San-dan) in the Japan Karate-do Federation (JKF) Goju Kai.
Goju-Ryu Karate Moreton Bay offers classes for both juniors and adults. The junior classes provide karate training and martial arts lessons specifically tailored for children. These classes aim to instil confidence, improve physical fitness, enhance concentration, and teach respect for the traditions and disciplines of karate. Goju-Ryu Karate Moreton Bay is a registered and incorporated not-for-profit organisation. It is also recognised as a registered QLD Gov Activity FairPlay Provider. This means that parents, carers, or guardians can apply for a voucher valued up to $150 for their child, which can be used towards sport and active recreation membership, registration, or participation fees with registered activity providers.
Training times for Goju-Ryu Karate Moreton Bay are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Kids training is held from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, while adult training sessions take place from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The school is conveniently located above the library on the corner of The Corso and Endeavour Blvd in North Lakes, QLD, Australia.
