Hey sports community,
Just a quick note to let you know what's been going on at Glossop Gymnastics Club. Ann Tracey, who's been at the helm for 29 years, has really built up something special here in Glossop, Derbyshire.
The club started out at the local leisure centre but now operates from its own dedicated gymnastics facility, which opened in 2019. The ribbon was cut by none other than Maria McLoughlin, former Olympic, World, and European gymnast, who also happened to coach Ann back in the day.
Ann's got some serious gymnastics cred herself. She was part of the Tameside Olympic Gymnastics Club and even represented the British National Squad. During her time, they took home the British Team Championships for five years straight. Now, she's bringing all that experience to our local community.
We’ve got classes for everyone, from babies and toddlers in our Gym Fun sessions to more advanced groups like Mini Elite and Elite. There's something for school-age kids too, with Beginners, Intermediates, and even plans for an Adult session soon.
For the older kids aged 11 to 17, there’s a leadership academy to help them develop their skills and even gain some qualifications. Plus, we collaborate with local primary schools and host British Gymnastics Keysteps Competitions twice a year.
Our Elite squad competes regularly in County and Club-level competitions, and the Intermediate and Mini Elite squads are also pretty active on the competitive scene. Don’t miss our Annual Competition and BBQ/Fun afternoon in July – it’s always a hit!
Ann and her team of coaches are all top-notch – fully qualified, DBS-checked, and big on safeguarding.
If you’re thinking about joining, just reach out via the contact details on our website. Ann is always keen to welcome new members and share her love for gymnastics.
Catch you at the gym!
