Glentress Peel Visitor Centre is thrilled to be hosting a local cycling event for all the biking enthusiasts out there. Nestled in the picturesque town of Peebles, Glentress is widely known as a haven for mountain bikers, boasting some of the finest mountain bike trails in the entire country.
But there's much more to Glentress than just biking! Visitors can soak up the incredible beauty of the Tweed Valley, take a relaxing stroll amidst the stunning surroundings, or even brave the exhilarating tree-top adventure. And let's not forget about the breathtaking views that await around every corner.
For those wanting to get closer to nature, Glentress offers a Wildlife Room where visitors can marvel at a beehive and catch a glimpse of the local wildlife through the osprey cams. It's a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the unbelievable creatures that call Glentress home.
After working up an appetite, why not make a pit stop at the café? They serve up exceptional coffee, delicious food, and mouthwatering cakes that are sure to satisfy any craving. It's the perfect spot to refuel and share some stories with fellow bikers.
Now, it's important to note that Glentress is constantly evolving. The Glentress Masterplan is currently in progress, which means exciting new trails and facilities are being developed. Please bear in mind that there may be some temporary disruptions to the trails and facilities as a result. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, we kindly ask all visitors to adhere to all signage and instructions from our dedicated staff.
Although some trails have suffered damage from severe storms, worry not, as the majority of the trails are now open with suitable diversions in place. However, please be aware that the Buzzard's Nest car park, Freeride Area, Skills Area, and certain trails are permanently closed due to ongoing Forest Holidays development works. But fear not, walkers, bikers, and horse riders can still access the forest road as usual.
It's worth noting that there will be occasional closures of Janet's Brae road on weekdays due to essential tree felling operations. This is to ensure the safety of all visitors, so please plan your visit accordingly. On the bright side, the Tweed Valley Multiuser path remains open for your convenience.
For parking, we have recently relocated all our car parking to the main visitor hub area at the bottom of the hill. This central location allows for convenient access to all the fantastic attractions and trails Glentress has to offer.
Exciting developments are also in the pipeline, with new trails, including Taster trails, and a brand new Skills Area set to open in 2024. As progress continues at Glentress, we kindly ask all visitors to exercise caution, follow safety signage, and comply with any instructions given by our dedicated staff and contractors.
So mark your calendars and spread the word about this incredible local cycling event at Glentress Peel Visitor Centre. It's the perfect opportunity for all cycling enthusiasts to explore the stunning trails, soak in the breathtaking views, and make unforgettable memories. We can't wait to see you there!
