Glennie Aquatics

Glennie Aquatics is an aquatic centre located in Newtown, Toowoomba. Their mission is to deliver high-quality swimming lessons, swim squad programmes, and aquatic activities in a welcoming, safe, and fun environment. The centre aims to inspire generations of people to value swimming as a skill for life. As a registered Swim Australia Swim School, they are dedicated to continuous improvement of their programmes, team, and patrons.

The facilities at Glennie Aquatics include a fully enclosed and heated ten-lane 25-metre pool, a spacious foyer and customer service area, male, female, and unisex shower and toilet facilities, ample parking, disabled access and amenities, direct access to the pool deck, plenty of grandstand seating and viewing areas, and a café. They also have a purpose-built Learn to Swim/Programme pool, heated to 32-34 degrees Celsius. Please note that the café is temporarily closed due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Glennie Aquatics offers a range of programmes and services, including swimming and water safety lessons, parent and baby swim lessons, stroke correction, and swim squad programmes. They also provide pool hire for clubs and associations. To get involved in the swim squad programmes, interested individuals can contact the centre for a free squad assessment. All Learn to Swim instructors and coaches at Glennie Aquatics are accredited with Swim Australia or Austswim. They undergo yearly professional development and attend in-house training sessions each term to stay up-to-date with the programme and industry developments. Instructors hold CPR qualifications, and many have additional qualifications specific to babies and toddlers, competitive strokes, higher coaching levels, pool lifeguarding, first aid, and bronze medallion.

Glennie Aquatics also provides traineeship opportunities for Glennie students. This allows for more individual attention and swim time for the participants, while trainees gain valuable work experience, qualifications, and an understanding of working with children.
