Glaston Manor Angling Association boasts a variety of pristine fishing locations. The River Brue, stretching from Lydford on Fosse Bridge downstream to the old White House site, offers fantastic sport with a diverse range of species. Anglers can find generous stocks of chub, dace, roach, bream, tench, perch, rudd, gudgeon, and occasionally even carp. Trout can also be found in the upper reaches of the river.
For pike anglers, the Brue provides excellent sport, with fish exceeding 20lb appearing each season.
Other fishing locations include the Millstreams at Lydford, Flights Wier, and Clyse Hole. The River Sheppey, south drain, and north drain are also popular areas, known for their abundance of chub, roach, dace, gudgeon, and various other species. The River Hartlake, Whitelake, and Redlake are home to similar species as the Brue and offer great fishing opportunities. Burtle Road Lakes, located between Westhay and Burtle, provide a tranquil environment with three lakes containing mixed fish species, including bream, roach, tench, rudd, perch, carp, and crucian carp.
Observing wonderful wildlife while catching fish is a common experience at these lakes.
Additionally, members of Glaston Manor Angling Association are entitled to fish waters belonging to the Somerset Levels Association of Angling Clubs (S. L. A. A.
C. ). This provides members with even more diverse fishing options.
When it comes to membership information, the club offers exceptional value for money with their Club Permits. The season runs from June 16th to June 15th each year, and members are required to observe the coarse close season on all drains and rivers from March 15th until June 15th. The club offers various permit options, including senior and junior permits for one or two rods, junior disabled permits, and OAP/disabled permits. Temporary memberships are also available for 28 days or 1 day, excluding Burtle lakes.
