Established on Phillip Island since 2012, Girls On Board has earned a stellar reputation as an outstanding surf school. One happy customer, Molly from Melbourne, says, “I have had a few surf lessons at different places, but I can honestly say Girls on Board was the best one I have ever had! It was so much fun, and it was great to have a smaller size group as it meant we got more tips and tricks.
Girls On Board aims to create a community of women, making the learning process less intimidating and more enjoyable. They believe in the power of surfing to bring happiness into our lives. As they say, “happiness comes in waves. ” They provide the opportunity to learn to surf and experience the benefits of surfing and saltwater therapy to those who may not have had the chance otherwise.
The surf school raises funds to provide free programmes and lessons to kids and adults in the community who may not be in a financial situation to afford them. They believe in the healing powers of the ocean and aim to promote mental health and well-being through surfing. They consider teaching someone to surf as a life-changing and lifelong gift.
In addition to public surf lessons, Girls On Board offers private lessons and group lessons for beginners. The group lessons are perfect for individuals or groups of friends looking to learn and have fun together. The class sizes are kept small and intimate to ensure maximum coaching time for each participant. For safety reasons, participants must be 8 years old or above, and children between 8 and 10 years old require a parent to accompany them in the water for the full duration of the session.
Included in the surf lessons are 1 hour and 45 minutes of surf instruction, surf safety and awareness tuition, and all necessary equipment. Girls On Board believes in providing a comprehensive and memorable experience for their students.
