Looking for some action on the dance floor? Head over to Gemini School of Dance in Griffithstown, Pontypool! For over 30 years, they've been the go-to spot for ballet and jazz classes, welcoming dancers of all ages and skills. Classes are conveniently held at St. Hilda's Church Hall.
Leading the charge is Principal Jacqui Everson, a pro in the Cecchetti ballet method and an experienced dance teacher. She's got a robust background, having taught at Crosskeys Tertiary College and St. Albans RC High School. Jacqui also co-founded Independent Ballet Wales and danced under Darius James. Her commitment to dance is rock solid.
Helping Jacqui are Rosie Balfry and Adam Cornes. Rosie's been with Gemini since 2014 and brings tonnes of experience, while Adam, a qualified teacher, also rocks a boys' dance class. He even dances with the school's company.
With around 170 pupils, Gemini covers all bases in ballet and jazz. Kids as young as four start with the basics, and exams kick off at age five. The school keeps learning fun with stories and costumes.
When it comes to pointe work, safety's a priority. Only qualified teachers decide when to start, generally not before ages 11-12. Pointe shoes get a proper fit from trained professionals—no shortcuts here!
Gemini School of Dance is serious about student safety, with a child protection policy available online.
