Geethalayam School of Bharathanatyam is a beacon of traditional Indian dance, founded in 1971 by the illustrious Smt. Geetha Saraswathy. With roots tracing back to the renowned Gurus Smt. Lakshmikantham and Shri Govindharaja Pillai, Smt. Saraswathy has dedicated her life to the art of Bharathanatyam, beginning her journey at the tender age of three. Her illustrious career includes numerous solo and group performances across South India and esteemed accolades such as the Abinaya Award at Chennai’s Nirthiya Kala Mahanadu.
The school prides itself on providing personalized instruction, maintaining small class sizes to ensure each student receives the attention and guidance they need to excel. Classes are meticulously designed for all levels—from beginners to advanced dancers—under the expert tutelage of Smt. Geetha Saraswathy and her accomplished disciple, Smt. Nivedita Satyajit. The curriculum covers fundamental steps, intricate dance pieces like Alarippu, Jathiswaram, Varnam, and Thillana, as well as the revered Salangai Pooja and Arangetram performances.
