Welcome to Garden Village Bridge Club! Andrew Mountain would like to extend a warm invitation to all bridge enthusiasts in the community. Nestled at the rear of the Garden Village Institute on Ffordd Estyn, Garden Village, Wrexham, this small club meets three times a week for duplicate sessions at 7.00pm.
Players can earn master points on Mondays and Thursdays, with Monday designated as the main competition night. Tuesdays are played on Stepbridge. The club uses duplimated boards and Bridgemates for quick results, often available within minutes.
Guests are always welcome on any club night. If a partner is needed, Val King can assist at 01978 350196.
The club is an active member of the North Wales Bridge Association (NWBA) and encourages participation in NWBA events. Most now require direct entry, with entries sent to the Association Tournament Officer, Rod Sheard, at least three weeks before the event. Details and masterpoint listings are available on the NWBA page on the club's website.
For current masterpoint rankings and recently won points, members can visit the Welsh Bridge Union website. Instructions for logging in or registering are provided there.
The Garden Village Institute, managed by the Garden Village Community Association, offers an affordable space for community activities, including children’s parties. The association is committed to maintaining the facility for the community's benefit.
For those wishing to enhance their bridge skills, a weekly session for improvers is held on Tuesday afternoons from 1.00pm to 3.00pm. Experienced players are available for partnering and assistance, and the fee is £2.00. No advance booking or partner is necessary. Queries can be directed to Andrew Mountain at [email protected].
To ensure safety during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the club has implemented certain measures. Wearing masks is optional, but hand sanitisation upon arrival is requested. Anyone experiencing symptoms or recently exposed to a Covid case should refrain from attending and provide a negative lateral flow test within 24 hours if needed.
These safety measures are subject to ongoing review, so members are advised to stay informed through club announcements.
For the latest news and updates, visit the North Wales Bridge Association's website. Also, recent results are posted on the club's website to keep everyone engaged in the bridge community.
