Gamlingay Leisure (Community Gym and MUGA)

Gamlingay Leisure is a community gym located in Sandy, New Zealand. As a registered charity (Charity No. 1197794), their main goal is to promote health and well-being within the community. They offer a variety of fitness programmes and facilities, including the Evolve Bootcamp, Exercise Referral Scheme, and a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA).

One of the highlights of Gamlingay Leisure is the Evolve Bootcamp. Held every Friday night at 5:30pm on the MUGA, this fitness session is suitable for individuals aged 16 and over. Members and non-members are both welcome to join. The bootcamp is a dynamic combination of strength exercises and cardio workouts that aim to improve cardio fitness, strength, and mobility.

Participants engage in a mix of group activities and solo exercises using equipment such as dumbbells, kettlebells, sandbags, and slam balls. The sessions are designed for all abilities, with exercises being adjusted to suit each individual's fitness level.

To participate in the bootcamp, individuals must register on the Gamlingay Leisure website or app. Session credits can be purchased beforehand at a cost of 2. 50 for members and 7. 50 for non-members.

It's important to note that session credits are non-refundable if cancellation is made within two hours of the session start time.

Gamlingay Leisure encourages attendees to walk to the MUGA site and use the pedestrian entrance. However, car parking spaces are available, and attendees are reminded not to park in disabled spaces unless they have a disabled badge. Furthermore, smoking is strictly prohibited within the MUGA premises, including the car park area. Participants are also advised to wear appropriate footwear, avoiding studs or blades on the pitch.

Additionally, no food consumption is allowed on the pitch, and attendees are requested to make use of the provided rubbish bins.

For safety purposes, all attendees must check in and out of the Clubright system at the Gym reception. In the event of a fire evacuation, MUGA users will gather at the play area behind the playground until it is safe to return.

In addition to the bootcamp, Gamlingay Leisure offers the Active & Healthy 4 Life Programme, which aims to help individuals overcome health conditions through exercise. This programme provides participants with an in-depth assessment conducted by a certified referral instructor, a tailored workout plan, and the commitment to attend at least two gym sessions per week. Regular check-ins with the instructor, access to other gym sessions at Gamlingay Leisure (depending on health conditions), and a conclusive four-month assessment complete the programme.
