Founded by Iain, a highly experienced and successful international martial artist, Fu Dog Martial Arts is committed to promoting the values of discipline, respect, friendship, modesty, honour, self-control, courage, and politeness. Iain's passion for martial arts began at the age of four when he started training at Carnegie Judo Club. Over the years, he dedicated himself to his craft and became a successful international athlete, competing in European, World, and Olympic cycles. Towards the end of his competitive judo career, Iain ventured into the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and currently fights as a professional with an impressive 6-1 record.
Fu Dog Martial Arts is home to Carnegie Judo Club, which has been established since 1980. The club offers both junior and senior classes for all levels and abilities. Judo, meaning the gentle way, is a dynamic combat sport that combines standing grappling techniques, groundwork, and submission techniques. Following the judo moral code, Carnegie Judo Club creates a welcoming and supportive community focused on self-achievement and fun.
In addition to judo, Fu Dog Martial Arts also offers classes in MMA. MMA is a full-contact combat sport that utilises striking, grappling, and submission techniques acquired from various martial arts and combat sports such as Boxing, Muay Thai, Judo, Wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The classes at Fu Dog consist of technical drilling and fight simulation training, catering to beginners and advanced practitioners. Safety and skill development are prioritised, ensuring that every individual can push their physical and mental abilities.
Fu Dog Martial Arts understands that everyone has their own fitness goals, and they are committed to helping individuals achieve them. Their fitness classes are adapted to cater to all shapes, sizes, and abilities, integrating various styles of training including gym work, martial art-style pad work, body circuits, and strength exercises.
