Freyberg Mondays is an exciting swimming event organised by Outpace Swimming, Wellington's premier swimming club. This event is perfect for adult swimmers, triathletes, masters, and open water swimmers who are looking to improve their skills and meet like-minded individuals.
Taking place every Monday and Wednesday at Freyberg pool, this activity offers different squads depending on your swimming ability and goals. In the morning, we have two squads running from 6-7am and 7-8am, specifically designed for more advanced swimmers who can swim 400m Freestyle faster than 7 minutes or between 6 & 9 minutes respectively. If you're a little slower, don't worry! Our evening squads are suitable for swimmers who can complete the 400m Freestyle in under 9 minutes.
For those looking for a midday swim, we also have a lunch squad on Mondays. This squad is open to any adult swimmer, triathlete, masters, or open water swimmer who can swim 200m Freestyle under 5 minutes. If you're unsure about which squad would be the best fit for you, simply reach out to Ben via email to arrange a trial session. We want to ensure that everyone finds the right squad to suit their abilities and goals.
Our squads are all about helping participants develop efficient swim techniques, improve fitness, and work towards their individual goals. To make the most of these sessions, we recommend attending two or three times a week. Our experienced coaches will guide you through targeted drills and swim sets focused on improving technique and stroke efficiency.
To enhance your swimming experience, make sure to bring your own pull buoy, flippers, and hand paddles for the training sessions. Don't worry if you don't have them yet, as swimming gear can be purchased from our Outpace shop at a discounted price.
Please note that our sessions run during school terms, and we may also offer specific clinics during school holidays to cater to different needs. Just a friendly reminder, there are no training sessions on public holidays, so mark your calendars accordingly!
For swimmers who enjoy open water sessions, we also offer opportunities to take your skills beyond the pool. Be sure to inquire about these sessions and get ready for some exciting challenges.
