Freestyle Academy UK is a martial arts club located in Farnborough, offering a range of classes in freestyle martial arts and Tai-Jutsu. The club welcomes beginners, intermediate, and advanced students, allowing each individual to develop at their own pace.

The emphasis at Freestyle Academy is on fun and fitness. The club believes that martial arts should be enjoyable, so beginners should not be discouraged if they have never tried martial arts before. The classes are designed to be engaging and dynamic, with no two lessons being the same. Safety is also a top priority, ensuring all participants have an enjoyable and safe experience.

The club boasts a team of qualified instructors, known as Sensei and Sempai. These instructors have been assessed and graded by various martial arts disciplines, ensuring students receive expert training and guidance. Occasionally, guest instructors are invited to provide individual seminars, offering students a diverse and enriching martial arts experience.

Freestyle Academy provides all beginner students with the free use of equipment. The club has an extensive and ongoing range of equipment available for students to use, encouraging them to fully immerse themselves in their training. Beginners are advised to wear loose fitting clothing and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated. Insurance forms are available upon request to ensure the safety of all participants.

The club is proud of its team of instructors, who bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the training sessions. Sensei Paul O'Connor is a 3rd Dan and Sensei Saybhan Delikhan is a 1st Dan, while Sempai Scott Shearer is a 3rd Kyu. Sensei Pauline Fyfe-Neeley is a 3rd Dan, Sensei Wendy Fyfe is a 1st Dan, and Sensei Rod Gould is a 1st Dan. Sempai Karl Heathwood is a 3rd Kyu, completing the team of dedicated and skilled instructors.

At Freestyle Academy, students can choose from a range of popular activities, including traditional Wado-Ryu Karate, Ju-Jitsu, Aikido, Kickboxing, and Weapons. Each activity is scheduled on different evenings, allowing students to select the disciplines that interest them most. Traditional Karate classes take place every Thursday evening from 18:45 to 20:00, Kickboxing classes are held every Tuesday evening from 18:00 to 19:00, and Ju-Jitsu and Weapons classes occur every Thursday evening.

The club also holds regular gradings to reward and encourage student development. Gradings acknowledge the progress students have made and enable them to progress through the coloured belt hierarchy. Students are selected for gradings based on the belief of their instructors that they are ready to take the next step in their martial arts journey.

Freestyle Academy is privileged to occasionally have guest appearances from former members, instructors, and industry professionals. Paul Kulik, a stuntman, actor, and tournament fighter, is a regular visitor to the club and began his training with Freestyle Academy in the 1990s. These guest appearances provide students with diverse perspectives and experiences, further enhancing their martial arts training.

In addition, Freestyle Academy recognises and rewards outstanding student achievement through the “Student of the Month” competition. This initiative highlights students who have shown exceptional dedication, skill, and improvement.
