Tywyn Swimming Pool, a local swimming club in Tywyn, is excited to promote the upcoming Free Swimming event. This program, launched in Wales in 2003, aims to encourage more young people (16 and under) and individuals over 60 to learn how to swim and enjoy regular swimming sessions.
The Free Swimming program is funded by the Welsh Government, managed by Sport Wales, and delivered by the 22 Local Authorities. For children under 16, all seven swimming pools, including Tywyn Swimming Pool, offer free swimming sessions on weekends. Please note that the Bro Ffestiniog session takes place on Tuesdays. Moreover, during the summer holidays, additional free sessions are available. It is important to bring evidence of age and residence in Wales, as well as an Annual Byw'n Iach Membership Ticket, in order to attend these free swimming sessions. For our customers over the age of 60, who reside in Wales, there is also a fantastic opportunity to swim for free during specific swimming sessions at any of our pools. However, an annual membership is required to access these free sessions. To find out more details, we kindly refer you to our centre's swimming schedule.
At Tywyn Swimming Pool, we are proud to participate in the national MAX Card scheme. Families with a Max Card can enjoy free family swimming sessions in our pools, provided that one adult member of the family is a member of Byw'n Iach, our sports club. When booking a place, please be sure to mention the Max Card.
We also strongly support young carers and offer free swimming to those with a Young Carer ID card. Additionally, they can bring along one friend or family member for free access to our public swimming sessions. We believe in providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
Lastly, we extend our gratitude to the veterans. If you have a DDS card or Defence Privilege Card, you can swim for free in our pools. Although membership is not required, we kindly request that you present your card upon arrival.
