Longwell Green Leisure Centre invites all expectant mothers in South Gloucestershire to enjoy the benefits of free swimming during pregnancy. This exciting opportunity is made possible through a joint partnership scheme between Circadian Trust, the operators of Active Lifestyle Centres, and South Gloucestershire Council.
Swimming is an excellent way for pregnant women to stay active and maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout all three trimesters. Not only does the water help to keep expectant mothers cool, but it also supports up to 90% of their body weight, making it gentle on their joints and muscles.
There are numerous health benefits associated with maintaining a healthy weight and staying active during pregnancy. These include an improved health-related quality of life and a reduction in health-related complications for both mother and baby.
To access this fantastic scheme, all you need to do is visit your local Active Lifestyle Centre and present your Maternity Notebook (Yellow Book), Maternity Exemption Certificate, or Matb1 (issued by your doctor or midwife), along with proof of your address. It's important to note that eligibility for free swimming ends three weeks after your due date.
Even if you're registered with a South Gloucestershire GP surgery but live just outside the county, you are still considered eligible for this wonderful opportunity. In such cases, you will just need to provide proof of registration.
