Frampton on Severn Bowls Club

Welcome to Frampton on Severn Bowls Club, a progressive and successful lawn bowls club located in rural Gloucestershire. Situated in the Severn Vale, just eight miles south of Gloucester City Centre and conveniently located just two miles from Junction 13 of the M5 motorway, we are easily accessible to both local and visiting bowlers.

Established in 1923, Frampton on Severn Bowls Club has a current membership of approximately 80 mixed members. We take great pride in our sense of community and always welcome new members to join our club. Whether you are an experienced bowler or just starting out, our excellent bowling facilities are suitable for bowlers of all levels.

Our club boasts a well-maintained 6 rink green, providing a great surface for enjoyable matches and competitions. Adjacent to the green is our modern clubhouse, which is equipped with a bar, kitchen facilities, and a comfortable lounge area. Socialising and camaraderie are important to us, and we believe that a welcoming and relaxed environment adds to the enjoyment of the game.

For new bowlers, we offer a range of club bowls that you can use until you feel ready to invest in your own. Additionally, we provide free lessons with our experienced coaches and ongoing coaching as part of your membership, ensuring that you have the support and guidance you need to develop your skills.

As a member of Frampton on Severn Bowls Club, you have the opportunity to participate at your desired level. We host regular club events that cater to bowlers of all abilities and levels of commitment. For those seeking a more competitive experience, we provide opportunities to participate in club championships, interclub events, and tournaments organised by Gloucestershire Bowls and Bowls England.

In addition to our focus on the sport, we understand the importance of building friendships and having fun off the green. Our club organises a variety of social events and dinners throughout the year to encourage members to come together, socialise, and create lasting memories.

The history of our club is tied to its original establishment as Cadbury's Bowls Club. The Cadbury family, known for their concern for the welfare of their employees, provided sports facilities in the form of a cricket pitch, hard tennis courts, and a bowls club. The bowls club is the only remaining facility from that era, with the tennis courts now in a state of disrepair. In 1982, Cadbury's sold the green to the members for a nominal fee on the condition that it would continue to be a bowls club.

It was at this time that the name was changed to Frampton on Severn Bowls Club.

To accommodate the growing needs of the club, a new clubhouse was built in 1986, replacing the previous portable terrapin building that had served as the clubhouse. The new clubhouse was constructed with the help of contractors and has since become the heart of our social activities.
