The British Racing School is excited to present The Foundation Course v3.18.0, a fantastic apprenticeship programme tailored for young individuals aged 16-25 who have a passion for the racing industry. This 12 or 18-week course offers a comprehensive introduction to the world of horse racing, covering a range of areas including horse riding and yard work.
Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will have the opportunity to secure a paid job in a working Horse Racing Yard, where they can further enhance their skills and begin an apprenticeship towards their Level 2 Diploma. It's a incredible pathway for those looking to kickstart a career in the racing industry.
The British Racing School is dedicated to supporting each and every participant throughout their journey. No prior experience is required, but what we do ask for is a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. To ensure that all applicants are fit for the course, a fitness test will be conducted by our incredible personal trainer, Yariv Kam.
For UK residents, tuition is completely free of charge. However, there is a modest cost of £850 for the twelve and eighteen-week courses, and £375 for the six-week courses, which covers accommodation and meals. Additionally, a refundable £100 bond is required to secure a place. We understand that financial constraints can be a challenge, which is why a bursary is available for individuals from low-income households to assist with a percentage of the course cost.
We also warmly welcome applications from overseas individuals, although it's important to note that course fees must be self-funded due to visa restrictions. However, trainees from the Republic of Ireland may still be eligible for UK government funding, which is incredible news.
For those interested in learning more about life at The British Racing School, we hold regular Open Days, which provide a firsthand experience of all that we have to offer. The next Open Day dates are 30th May 2024, 25th July 2024, 22nd August 2024, and 31st October 2024. The day begins bright and early at 9:30 am, giving you the chance to watch our talented trainees ride, meet our beautiful horses, tour our state-of-the-art facilities, and ask any burning questions you may have.

Should you be invited for an interview, please rest assured that we have a routine schedule in place to ensure a smooth process. You will be treated to an induction talk, followed by fitness and English/Maths assessments. Then, you'll have the opportunity to explore our yard and facilities during a guided tour, before engaging in a one-on-one interview. Parents are more than welcome to leave and return for the tour, and we'll make sure you're kept refreshed with tea and coffee throughout the day.
