

Mark Staddon at Ford Judo Club in Romford has been dedicated to the sport for over 40 years. Now located at Westlands Playing Fields, opposite St. Edwards Secondary School, Ford Judo Club has distinguished itself as one of the best in the UK. With young fighters making it into the British Squad, Mark couldn't be prouder.
The club offers a range of classes led by a team of experienced and qualified coaches. Each coach is DBS checked and trained in first aid and child protection. The club is home to over 100 members, aged from five to over seventy, and welcomes players of all levels.
For the little ones aged 5–10 years, there are beginner classes to get them started in judo. Kids looking to advance can join the Intermediate/Advanced classes and work towards earning their belts. Adults aren't left out either, with both beginner and experienced player classes available.
Mark and his coaches emphasise the importance of discipline, safety, hygiene, and etiquette. Judo is a fantastic sport for all ages, offering benefits like improved fitness, stamina, and self-defence skills. Ford Judo Club, affiliated with the British Judo Association, requires all members to have an up-to-date BJA licence for insurance.
Mark, a 3rd Dan in judo, has been passionate about the sport since 1982. He joined Ford Judo Club in 1999 and has achieved great success under the guidance of coach John Debono.
