Footnote Farm, located in Langley Twp, BC, Canada, is a horse riding school, boarding stable, and breeder specializing in Norwegian Fjords. Founded in 2004 in California and relocated to BC in 2011, Footnote Farm is dedicated to the training and well-being of horses through empathic husbandry and behaviour modification techniques.
The farm offers a range of services including clinics, workshops, events, and shows in disciplines such as Obstacle Sports, Working Equitation, and various other disciplines. The owner, Jenny, a certified instructor with Equine Canada since 1994 and a graduate in Psychology, focuses on the science of learning and animal behaviour to create a solid foundation for all animals at Footnote Farm.
Footnote Farm takes pride in its breeding program, which initially started with Warmbloods but transitioned to Norwegian Fjords after discovering the unique qualities of the breed. Imported fjords from Germany and other countries are carefully selected for performance and longevity, with a focus on using learning theory to enhance training efficiency.
The farm is home to several fjords and other breeds, with 2–4 foals born each year. Frozen semen from select stallions is available for breeding purposes, and the farm has placed fjords in loving homes across British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California. Visitors interested in learning more about events or fjord horses are welcome to contact Footnote Farm to schedule a visit and see the farm and horses in person.
With a commitment to ethical breeding practices, evaluation, licensing, and registration of all horses, Footnote Farm ensures that their horses meet stringent quality standards. Stallions are licensed in Germany, with some also licensed in Norway and Denmark, and have undergone rigorous evaluation and performance testing to uphold the breed's integrity.
Footnote Farm's dedication to the welfare and training of horses, combined with their focus on education and ethical breeding practices, sets them apart as a leading facility in Langley Twp for those interested in the versatile and enduring Norwegian Fjord breed.
